1. What storage unit sizes are available?
Canway offers sizes from 3x4 Lockers (about the size of a small closet) to 20x20 (400 sq. ft.-as big as a standard two-car garage) so it's easy to pick a size that works for you.
2. Can I come and view the facility and various storage spaces or do I need an appointment?
We welcome all visits and would gladly show you our facility.
3. What if I need more space after I move in?
All Canway representatives are experienced storage counselors and will be happy to help you select the correct space for your needs. If after renting and you decide to either increase or decrease sizes, or change units, we will transfer you to a larger unit.
4. What must I bring with me when I rent a space?
You will need identification with a signature on it, such as your driver's license, and a phone number where we can reach you if needed. You will also need to either bring a padlock for your unit or you can purchase a lock at our store. (Please note that if you hire us to move you in storage, then you get one month free plus you do not have to provide us with a padlock, unless of course you like to.) You will be required to sign a Rental Agreement which spells out many of the items discussed here. Our staff will take all the time necessary to review and explain the agreement with you.
5. When can I access my unit?
You can get to your unit seven days a week, 365 days a year 24 hours a day.
6. Does anyone else have access to my unit?
No, unless YOU choose to give someone else access (see below) and the key to your lock.
7. How does the access-gate system work?
You are given a unique personal code. Entering this code into the front keypad opens the main gate. Once you are done in the unit, entering the code into the exit gate keypad opens the gate so you can exit the facility.
8. Is there free parking for customers?
Yes, parking while you are loading or unloading is always free.
9. Does your facility accommodate large moving trucks and tractor-trailers?
Yes. We can handle even the largest tractor-trailers.
10. How safe is your Storage?
Our storage area is enclosed by fences. Each tenant is given a unique Gate Access Code that is known only by the tenant and authorized users of that unit. If a tenant feels the Gate Access Code has been comprised, we will issue a new access code. Our location also has CCTV-closed circuit TV's installed.
11. Is there anything I need to do to prepare my unit before I move my belongings into it?
No, your unit will be clean and ready for you on the day you move in.
12. How should I pack my storage unit to make it easy to get to my items?
There are some simple strategies that can really help - like putting the things you'll want to get to easily in the front of the unit. It also helps to label boxes clearly and place them so the label shows and always leave a clear walkway in the center so you can get to all parts of your unit. 13. Are there any items I can't store?
Common sense and state laws determine what may be stored. You alone control access to your storage space. Items you should never store include, but are not limited to, live animals, perishables, liquids, explosives, flammables, paint and cleaners. Remember to always drain fuel from gasoline engines before storing. Throw away anything that could possibly cause a fire. Do not store food or any item that could attract rodents or pests. You are also not allowed to store yourself - your unit cannot be used as an apartment or place to stay.
14. How do I rent a unit?
Simply select the location most convenient for you, and choose the size unit you want. Then reserve your space by calling us directly.
15. Is there a minimum or maximum length of time I can store things?
Our minimum contract is for one month (unless you hire us for your move into storage, then you’ll get the first month free). Your contract then runs month to month automatically self-renewing every month. There is no limit on how long you can rent your space.
16. Is there a security deposit?
No. There is no security deposit on a storage unit.
17. How much do I have to pay initially to move in?
Typically you pay for the days left in the month when you begin renting plus a one-time administrative fee of $15.
18. What about insurance?
We suggest you get insurance for peace of mind, just as you normally would for your house or business possessions. We have information available in our office about inexpensive self-storage renters insurance that is offered by third party insurance companies. Also, check your homeowners or renters insurance policy. Many policies cover your goods while in storage-but not all.
19. Do you accept credit cards?
Yes. We accept Visa and MasterCard.
20. Do I have to start renting at the beginning of a month?
No. You may start renting on any day of the month. You'll be charged for the days remaining in that month. After that you pay on or before the first of each month.
21. When is my rent due?
Your rent is due on or before the first of each month.
22. Will I receive a monthly invoice?
Our customers simply pay monthly the way they would for an apartment. If you would like to receive reminder, we can certainly accommodate by sending a monthly email.
23. When do you apply a late charge?
A late charge is assessed if payment is not made when due. Please contact us for details. To avoid any late charge or fees, you can arrange to set-up automatic billing to your credit card where the rent will be charged on the first day of the month.
